Royal Malaysian Air Force Su-30MKM Livery
Produced by the Irkut Corporation in Irkutsk, Russia, the Su-30MKM is based on the Indian Su-30 MKI, but with different avionics systems.
Winning the Malaysian contract over the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet in 2003, it was considered to be the most advanced fighter in Asia at the time.
That is until 2018, when 14 out of 18 were grounded due to engine issues and availability of spare parts, and with china making steady progress on their Flanker variants the MKM will need some work to stay competitive in the ever fast evolving geopolitical arena that is the South China Sea.
