This mod adds a crew that will recover abandoned vehicles, including cars with a dead driver. They will also get into shootouts with the police if they cross paths. If you have a police patrol mod installed, this will happen more often.

@VehdehvehV - Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoy it. It would be much easier if there was a method to determine whether the engine is running or not. As it is now I use the door lock state, and since all the player vehicles are unlocked, they target those immediately, which is why the time setting doesn't apply to those cars. I am looking at a better implementation.
@Prof_Farnsworth Love your mod simply brilliant :-) but i have 1 question if i set the ini to 1 instead of 50 will theyspawn quicker or slower because i couldn`t se or notice the difference in the game please help
@TONY YAYO - Lower values will spawn quicker overall. It is still random though. Try setting it to 5, then try 300. You should see a difference then.
@Prof_Farnsworth - Ooooh. I thought "carjack_Chance" was a percentage (0 - 100), perhaps (if this gets an update change the line in the INI from:
";Change this value to determine how often the crew will jack random cars. Does not affect recovery of abandoned vehicles."
to:

Loving the mod, adds some more life to Los Santos! But a dude just RPG'd me for getting back my car.
I'll admit, its god damn funny (It's almost like there are GTAO players around), but I would prefer Los Santos carjackers not to be that deeply concerned about getting that super nice car from me. An option to prevent them from having these kind of weapons would be nice, to maintain the realism, inmersion, whatever they call it these days.
Other than that, this mod is a must for this game.

@Prof_Farnsworth I have used this mod (and it's older sibling in IV) since it first appeared. Always worked perfectly. After the last RS and scripthook updates however it seems to not function. It shows that it loads with no errors in the reports but no one ever tries to steal my cars. I have stood outside the various houses for up to five minutes (default value in ini file unchanged) and no carjackers, anywhere. I do run a number of other mods, but yours has always played nice with them in the past and with my work schedule it will be a few days before I have time to test one mod at a time.
@Pslytely Psycho - Hmmm, I thought I saw them while I was adding more assassination locations over the weekend. I'll keep an eye out and see if I can narrow down any issue.
@Belazy420 - That mod for 4 was massive and a huge undertaking. If I have the time or motivation, I'd love to make another one, but I can't promise I will.
@Prof_Farnsworth Ah, my days off have arrived so I just had the chance to re-test. With only this mod in scripts, LUA removed to kill its scripts and only some update rpf mods running in a mods folder (I just ran it with the mods folder deleted with the same result, thought there might be a conflict with a dispatch file or something, no joy) I still have no one coming to steal my car. Usually I have to run to the rear of Trevors strip club to beat them or snipe them from the alley if I'm a bit slow. But now no one come sliding up to drop off a thief at all, (I waited appx 5 minutes at each site I tested, each characters safehouse and several random spots with lots of cars on the street) and no cleaning crews for abandoned cars. No errors loading (or re-loading using insert), no crash, and unfortunately no car thefts.The same story with Franklin and Michal as well. Here is my complete Scripthook.NET log from this trial:

If GTA weren't so huge, I would save a modded and vanilla copy of every update like I do in Kerbal Space Program. Unfortunately I don't own a HDD factory.
I can't read your comments without hearing "Good news everyone" in the back of my mind and somehow, hearing the Farnsworth voice say "Hmmm, I thought I saw them while I was adding more assassination locations over the weekend" just sounds so right, it's uncanny.
@Pslytely Psycho - lol that is funny about the voice. I tried this the other day and while the crew does still show up for me, they did not recover a vehicle with a dead driver which is their top priority so something isn't working right. I will need to test some more.
@Prof_Farnsworth Hey Prof, since ScriptHook.NET log showed no errors, I kind of quit looking, I just realized that ScriptHookV error log, however, is showing an error, and the reason I never see a cleanup crew.

Don't know if this actually tells you anything. Just the only time I've ever seen this script throw errors. I did try re-downloading and re-installing. Same result. I didn't notice this until after the last Rockstar Update and the updates of the Scripthooks as real life tends to get in the way of fun, so It may of been earlier as I don't get to play all that much.
I do so miss this mod. It was a staple of IV for me as well. You rock man.

@Prof_Farnsworth Can you make a business mod for gta 5? Like a legit one with employees to hire/fire and more stuff. Just like the CEO update for GTA online. PLEASE!!
