The long awaited mod is finally here! This is my attempt to replace a main character's vehicle. It mostly works, however there are some bugs. My mod replaces Michael's Tailgater with a Lampadati Felon, and Trevor's Bodhi with a Sandking SWB. Here are some of the bugs that I know of, but let me know if you encounter more.
*BUGS*
You cannot use:
Bumpers
Exhausts
Fenders
Grilles
Hoods (Semi-Fixed 1.0b) - Only bullhorns work on the Sandking (2.0a)
Roofs
Spoilers (Semi-Fixed 1.0b) - Felon Only
They don't show up correctly on the cars.
Also, when taking the cars into a Los Santos Customs, it says that the cars are an Obey Felon, Coupe and a Canis Sandking SWB, Offroad. However when you get into the car it says Lampadati Felon and Sandking SWB like it should. Working on a fix for all of these things. ...No longer working on a fix because it's impossible until we can edit carcols.ymt, carmodcols.ymt, and carvariations.ymt. *NOT TRUE!* I was able to edit carcols.ymt to an extent, it just cleaned up some issues with interior things lining up in the cars, so now the dashes/interiors are fixed 100%.
*WARNING* Don't use tailgater_mods.rpf. It does not work right and will just crash your game. Uploading new version without the file.
Installation Instructions:
Step 1: Download RMCC2.0a.zip and OpenIV 2.6+ (If you don't already have it)
Step 2: Install/Open OpenIV
Step 3: Extract RMCC2.0a.zip anywhere you like
Step 4: In OpenIV, open your update folder, then open update.rpf
Step 5: Once update.rpf is open, navigate to common/data
Step 6: You will see handling.meta in this folder, enable edit mode in OpenIV
Step 7: Right click handling.meta and press replace
Step 8: In the file selection window that appears, navigate to the folder you extracted RMCC2.0a.zip to and click on the handling.meta in that folder.
Step 9: Replace vehicles.meta in update.rpf/common/data/levels/gta5
Step 10: Replace vehiclelayouts.meta in update.rpf/common/data/ai
Step 11: Replace carcols.ymt in update.rpf/x64/data
Step 12: Press File - Rebuild
Step 13: Close update.rpf
Step 14: Still in OpenIV, go back to GTA V root folder and open x64e.rpf
Step 15: Once x64e.rpf is open, navigate to levels/gta5/vehicles.rpf
Step 16: Once vehicles.rpf is open, replace all of the ytd and yft files that you extracted from RMCC2.0a.zip. Make sure you don't forget to replace vehicles_bodhi_interior.ytd
Step 17: Press File - Rebuild
Step 18: After it is done rebuilding for the last time, you're finished! Have fun!

Hey! You can replace Franklin or Michael car with Kuruma armored ?
@vraciu unfortunately no, they have to be cars included with the main game or pieces of the body models disappear for some reason
@Bladez1992 If i remember only body parts from online characters disappear. I'm using kuruma in game using a mod and i don't have any problems. I will sent you a screenshot whit kuruma when i will open my pc
@Bladez1992 Look here a screenshot from my game: http://imgur.com/bPC9pcJ Only if you use freemode characters body parts will disappear :D
@vraciu that's not what i mean. using this method of replacing the vehicle as a main character's vehicle makes parts of the vehicle model disappear. I think it's because the information for the Armored Kuruma (a Heist DLC car) is not in the default game's carcols.ymt. it just won't work, trust me. i tried :)
@Bladez1992 OK. When editing carcols.ymt will be possible you should be able to add Kuruma there. I found a file carcols.meta in GTA 5\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpheist\dlc.rpf\common\data . Rockstar put all heist files in it's own separate file in the MPHEIST update location . In that folder carcols is editable. :D
@vraciu yes you're right, i'm trying to use the add dlc method for my next update, and that should allow me to use DLC cars because the loading priority in GTAV loads DLC content over the top of game content. example: the game loads default carcols.ymt let's say it's the first file it loads. somewhere near the end of game loading, all of the dlc.rpf files are loaded and their data takes precedent over stock game data. Now the question remains, will the game use carcols.meta over carcols.ymt if they have the same car listed in both? I don't know yet, but will see soon.
@Bladez1992 how goes the adding of DLC cars?
@Bladez1992 Actually, you can replace one of the cars with an armoured Kuruma, I did so with Trevor's Bodhi. I don't get any missing panels, just can't change the "LAYOUT" value in vehicles.meta.
BTW, curious as to how you changed the plates
Is there any backup files cuz i wanted to change my mind
@Bladez1992
you can replace the bodhi in the LOST MC gang burrito for me? that would be really awesome have no plan of it
Hey, I heard you can edit the 'carcols' file... doesn't that change the color of the car? As in to fix the one car I need help with? If you think you can fix it, message me ASAP and I'll specify on what i need fixed.
Thanks,
-Nie
I have tried this earlier and it works, without your mod I replaced the cars also if your character head is coming from roof in vehicles meta copy all lines of the replaced car with the car that you want :) also you should not take credits because this tutorial already exist on seven sins and other GTA 5 modding sites...
ya this is not a mod at all, all you did was rename the car lol, I find you can not fuck with the main character cars, I even get problems when replacing the sanchez and enduro
after replacing the ytd files and all after that when i start game
first popup message comes "games file corrupted"
2nd message is could not read files click ok to terminate the program
after clicking on okay message comes try reinstalling
in both cases the game crashes as well as
can you please suggest what to do......
@RandomModder Well try out the replace character vehicle script next time :)
@vraciu there are some cars that you can use without crashing, what someone has to do is find a way to re-encrypt the edited files, that's what rockstar is checking for
@vraciu yeah ive done it
you dont need a mod to do this...just change suitable files...example...micheals 2 door car with a bmw 2 door hard top
too many bugs lolll wtf
