Each model you do will get better and better. When I did modding for GTA IV, my first few models wern't 100% and I knew it. But after a while, I learned some things and got better at it. Keep at it and don't let the dream die.
Man I remember back in the GTA IV days I took the JoBuilt Linerunner HD mod files and tried to convert it to IV and have it resemble the JoBuilt Phantom. I'm glad someone finally gave the Linerunner some love in the HD world. I also recommend making an add-on version as well. Overall good job!
