Depending on who you hit, you might deal with a driver begging for a payoff, a furious road-rager with a bat, a terrified witness dropping a briefcase of cash, or even a (flirty encounter that turns into a full mini-mission < Only if you enable, OFF By Default).
Features
- Universal SHVDN Compatibility: Built using raw GTA natives to ensure the mod is fully compatible with ScriptHookVDotNet3 Nightly 122 and all previous versions, and also compatible with ScripthookVDotNet3 Enhanced (SHVDNE).
- Overhauled Crash Detection (V0.2): No more random triggers. The mod now calculates the exact delta force of an impact. Minor taps result in quick "Dismissive" reactions, while high-speed wrecks can leave NPCs unconscious or trigger extreme road-rage.
- The Fault System (V0.2): Using collision physics math, the mod now determines who is at fault. If an NPC rear-ends you or hits you while you're stopped, they are at fault. You can demand compensation from them!
- Dynamic Mood & Probability System: Every driver is different! Use the in-game menu or .ini to set the exact percentage chances for 9 different archetypes:
- Angry & Sad: The standard experience. Pay them off for the damage or risk your reputation.
- The Road-Rager: Fearless drivers who will hop out with a bat or pistol to settle the score.
- The "Karen": They wont fight, but they will stand there filming you while screaming for the police until you are "Busted."
- Gang Retaliation: Hit the wrong car and the whole crew jumps out with "Fearless" AI, calling for backup and engaging in a shootout.
- The Drunk: (Improved!) They will stumble out with a custom drunk walk and bribe you with extra cash to keep the cops away. If you rob them, they will ragdoll and pass out on the pavement.
- Paranoid: A very rare encounter where the driver panics, drops a briefcase of money, and sprints away.
- The Secret Scenario: (Improved!) A rare interaction with female drivers where they offer an "alternative" payment or you can still pay them.
- Cinematic Immersion: (New!) Replaced the old fade-to-black with a dynamic, low-angle cinematic camera outside the vehicle. Features see-saw rocking physics, dynamic audio scaling, and a realistic 20-minute in-game time skip.
- Satisfaction System: Features a live UI progress bar. Build satisfaction by driving them around or parking in a quiet spot for a "good time."
- GPS Drop-offs: (Improved!) Once satisfied, take them to one of 20 real residential homes for a massive Reputation boost. The mod calculates distance to ensure she actually lives in the same county/city you crashed in.
- Fire, Rescue & Traffic Control: (New!) Crash scenes now generate a 25-meter invisible roadblock, forcing NPC traffic to stop and wait instead of piling up. If a car catches fire or a driver dies, witnesses will natively dispatch the Fire Department or an Ambulance to the scene.
- Money Exchange Animations: (New!) Fully synced hand-to-hand transaction animations play whenever you pay a driver or accept a bribe.
- Advanced Reputation System: Your actions matter!
- The "Bad Tax": Have bad rep. NPCs will demand significantly more money for repairs.
- Good Samaritan: High rep grants you major discounts, though the floor is never 0 (everyone wants their car fixed!).
- Hit and Run: Fleeing the scene instantly tanks your rep and triggers a police search.
- Insurance Fraud (Brake Checkers): (Improved!) Watch out! While driving, NPCs may occasionally blast their horn, pull in front of you, and slam on their brakes to try and scam you for insurance money.
- Intimidation & Robbery: (Improved!) Feeling villainous. If you aim your weapon at a driver during an interaction, you can rob them for their repair money, but expect a huge reputation hit. If witnesses see you do this, they will immediately call 911!
- Police Proximity Logic: If a police officer is within 40 meters when a crash occurs, the driver will immediately flag them down, and you will be busted before you can even explain.
Requirements
- ScripthookVDotNet3 Nightly (Legacy)
- ScriptHookVDotNet Enhanced (SHVDNE) (Enhanced - REQUIRED for Enhanced edition)
- LemonUI SHVDN3 (OPTIONAL)
GTA V Version Compatibility:
- This mod works on both Legacy and Enhanced versions of GTA V.
- For Legacy, you can use either ScripthookVDotNet3 Nightly or ScriptHookVDotNet Enhanced (SHVDNE).
- For Enhanced, you must use ScriptHookVDotNet Enhanced (SHVDNE).
Changelog
v0.4.1 (Latest)
- Nightly Latest Fix: Fixed an issue With the Mod Working With the Latest Version of Nightly, as it had some new compiling changes in the SHVDN which conflicted with my Mod.
v0.4
- Legacy & Enhanced Compatibility: Fixed crashes that could occur when using the mod on the Enhanced version of GTA V. Interactions like entering vehicles and collision checks are now stable across all supported ScriptHookVDotNet versions.
- Customizable Controls: You can now remap the interaction buttons (Rob, Ride Along, Demand Pay) to any key or controller button you want directly in the .ini file. On-screen prompts will always display the correct button you have set.
- Mission Compatibility: The mod now properly pauses itself during Rockstar missions and cutscenes, so random crash encounters will no longer interfere with story missions or heists.
- Menu Toggle Fix: Fixed an audio glitch where opening the settings menu would play the UI sound multiple times rapidly. The menu now opens and closes cleanly every time.
- Script Reload Cleanup: Fixed an issue where NPC blips could get permanently stuck on the minimap if scripts were reloaded mid-game. Everything now cleans up properly when the mod shuts down.
v0.3
- Performance & Stability: Implemented tick-rate throttling for CPU optimization and an 'Aborted' memory failsafe to prevent stuck cameras or blips.
- Cinematic Secret Scenario: Replaced the fade-to-black with a dynamic, low-angle cinematic camera outside the car. Added see-saw physics, scaling audio/dialogue intensity, a realistic 20-minute time skip, and overhauled the GPS drop-off logic with distance-filtered locations.
- Fire, Rescue & Witnesses: Severe crashes resulting in death or fire now trigger witnesses to natively dispatch Ambulances and Firetrucks. Robberies in front of witnesses now trigger 911 calls.
- Traffic Control: Active crash scenes now generate a 25-meter traffic roadblock, causing NPC drivers to naturally stop and wait instead of piling up.
- Immersion Polish: Added fully synced hand-to-hand money exchange animations. Drunk drivers now ragdoll/pass out when robbed. Brake checkers aggressively blast their horn before slamming the brakes.
- Total UI Overhaul: Completely rebuilt the LemonUI menu into 6 organized submenus, supporting live value tracking and dynamic slider descriptions for every single setting.
v0.2
- Physics Overhaul: Added "Crash Detection" force scaling and the "Fault System" to determine who is responsible for the accident.
- NPC Shock Phase: Added configurable delays before NPCs exit their vehicles after a crash.
- Immersion Fixes: Added mobile phone animations for the "Karen" archetype and fixed Gang Squad AI so passengers now engage in combat perfectly.
- Traffic Cleanup: Implemented a smart-despawn system and "Drive Away" logic for fleeing peds to ensure empty cars don't block traffic.
- UI & Controls: Added a Robbery prompt (Reload Key) and fixed truncated UI text for the Secret Scenario.
- Enhanced Secret Scenario: Added "Round 2" logic, fixed GPS routing, and optimized screen-fade timing for services.
v0.1.1
- Universal SHVDN Compatibility: Completely rewrote the notification system to use raw GTA Natives. The mod is now fully compatible with any ScriptHookVDotNet3 version mismatches and works perfectly on the newest Nightly builds (121) and older versions.
v0.1 (Initial Release)
- Core System: Initial release of the crash detection and state-machine logic.
- Mood Integration: Added Angry, Sad, Furious, Gang, Karen, Drunk, Paranoid, and (Flirty < Only if you enable) driver types.
- LemonUI Settings Menu: Added a full in-game menu (F7) to adjust every single setting, sensitivity, and encounter probability on the fly.
- The "Satisfaction" Engine: Implemented the Secret Scenario with screen-fading services, and home drop-off rewards.
- AI Unblocking: Fixed a major bug where NPCs would get "stuck" in their cars after being paid. They now properly drive away.
- Fearless Flagging: Gang members and Road-Ragers are now flagged as fearless, meaning they wont run away just because you have a gun out.
- Brake Check Logic: Added the Insurance Fraud background event with lane-detection math to ensure it only happens when a car is directly in front of you.
- Reputation Overhaul: Added the Reputation system with the "Bad Tax" and Good Samaritan discounts.
Installation
- - Install Script Hook V.
- - Install ScripthookVDotNet 3 Nightly.
- - Install LemonUI SHVDN3 (OPTIONAL) (put LemonUI.SHVDN3.dll inside your scripts folder) if you want to use the in-game menu.
- Download this mod, extract it, and drop CrashEncounters.dll and CrashEncounters.ini into your scripts folder.
- Press F7 (Default) in-game to open the mod menu if enabled.
Help & Troubleshooting
- How do I use the menu: By default, the menu is OFF to save resources. Go into the CrashEncounters.ini and set Enabled = True under the [Menu] section. Ensure LemonUI is installed!
- NPCs are not fighting back: Make sure you have not aimed your gun too early! Most drivers will panic if you aim a gun unless they are "Furious" or "Gang" members.
- Payoff is too high: Your reputation might be low, or the car you hit was an expensive model. You can adjust the DamageMultiplier or Min/Max Payoff in the menu.

@Adurite yes i'm referring to the interact controls (i use dpad right for something else so there's a bit of a conflict) thanks and great work!
Love the mod, but it somehow makes the game crash with Advanced Custom Blips. Makes the game crash on script reload
EDIT: Turning off menu in crash encounters makes the game not crash. So much be different versions of LemonUI SHVDN3 that the mods rely on. Love the mod!
@Jim1121 i can fix this (and similar mods like that) which cause that issue in my mod. In the next update of my mod later today.
@Adurite Awesome news dude! Thanks for the quick reply. Love the mod
for some reason in my logs it says "[18:38:18] [ERROR] Failed to load script assembly CrashEncounters.dll when searching for script types because there is an assembly that the script tried to load as a dependency but couldn't. Exception message: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.
First LoaderException message (which tells what assembly is missing): System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'ScriptHookVDotNet3, Version=3.9.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'ScriptHookVDotNet3, Version=3.9.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'" and the mod doesn't work. I do have ScriptHookVDotnet so I don't know what's happening
yea im getting the same issue as the other guy, i got everything installed correctly i thought i was goin crazy
@BlakeTheKiller @jazzysoggy12 Which Version of ScripthookVDotNet3 are you both using?
@Adurite latest version in the nightly github
i use the latest too. it was working completely fine yesterday until now
@jazzysoggy12 @BlakeTheKiller The Next Patch for this Mod should hopefully fix this issue, i just have to wait for the file to be approved and it should be Fixed in the Next Update of this Mod.
love your mods, but i have question, during a police chase with a wanted level, a cop did a PIT maneuver on me, then just stopped, the notification said 'Driver look apologetic', the mod treats the cop as a normal driver after the collision, even though the chase is still active?
although Ive used other mods, maybe thats the problem...
mods used (mains) Rebalanced Dispatch Enhanced 4.1.4 , Crash Encounters [.NET] 0.4.1 (Nightly Fix)
@DetectiveRedacted I'll get that fixed in the next update.
Currently I'm Fixing the mod so Nightly Works again, for now Use SHVDN Enhanced, it let's you use Legacy And Enhanced .NET Scripts at the Same Time, But until i fix this issue Use SHVDNE Instead for now.
Hi, Just need some confirmation. When I bump to Police Vehicles, they're counted as crash encounters. After paying them, they're still going to shoot me because of being wanted. roadblocks also are the same, still counted as crash encounters. Can I confirm if this should really happen?
Also, on v0.3, when I Pay the driver, even if im inside the car. The character goes to the npc/driver correctly. Now, when I pay, my character goes out the car and walk a short distance and plays the paying animation even if the npc/driver is not infront of him.
Minor issue:
1. Opening the Mod Menu for this works fine. When you enter any configuration menu (ex. Enter Core System Settings), pressing the Menu Key will open another Mod Menu
@Adurite alright bro no rush
thanks for making such a great mod
Hi @Adurite this is the error I'm getting and I have the latest scripthook dot net nightly installed. 18:34:18] [ERROR] Failed to load script assembly CrashEncounters.dll when searching for script types because there is an assembly that the script tried to load as a dependency but couldn't. @daldexter same
@daldexter For now the only fix to this is to use ScripthookvDotnet Enhanced (SHVDNE) Which works both on Legacy And Enhanced and let's you use legacy scripts still from nightly, It's just i accidently compiled the mod to shvdne incorrectly one time and now the Version is broken, but the easiest solution is just to use shvdne and all the issues will be fixed, Check the mod description to find it, i personally use it and get no errors.
but make sure when using it, if you have shvdn2 scripts, use the nightly shvdn2 instead which is the dll with a 2, so then those old scripthookvdotnet scripts still work if you decide to use shvdne for legacy and enhanced.
